Form in Flux: an inter-constructed living story

Shared by Kasper Svendsen & Chen Hsi-Chao | Traced by David A. Rios

“I remember one of my architectural students taking me to visit a mountain chalet on which construction work had not yet started. He brought the spaces to life for me as if we were in them: he basked in the light from a window, he walked through doors, climbed the stairs to the attic, stooped beneath the sloping roof. A few years later I visited the finished chalet – I already knew it inside out!”

(Jacques Lecoq, “The Moving Body (Le Corps Poetique), III The Roads to Creativity, 3” - The Laboratory for the Study of Movement [L.E.M.], P165)

This course explores the ways in which human behaviours and social cultures at BAS can be used in understanding spatial potentials. What common rituals do we perform as we move through our spaces? Are there certain tendencies, concerns or actions that identify and connect us as BAS humans? How are they identified, and how do they play out. These are some of the questions we wish to explore through a series of investigations into the ecologies, encounters, territories and stories that build BAS. This workshop will incorporate and develop methods drawn from performance, theatre and spatial practice.
