Adania Shibli will give a speech at the opening of Bergen International Literature Festival on 7 Feb

Adania Shibli, joint convener of Bergen Assembly 2025, alongside Ravi Agarwal and BAS (Bergen School of Architecture), has been invited to speak at the opening ceremony of this year’s Bergen International Literature Festival (Litfest Bergen) on 7 February (18:00).
Taking place 7-11 February at the House of Literature in Bergen (Litteraturhuset), the festival theme is dissolution, with lectures, conversations and readings by internationally acclaimed authors, poets and writers. Together with Shibli’s speech, the ceremony will include contributions by poets Erlend O. Nødtvedt, Nomthandazo Shandu and Andisa Mpisi, and speeches from secretary of state Even Aleksander Hagen and festival director Teresa Grøtan.

Adania Shibli (Palestine, 1974) has written novels, plays, short stories and narrative essays. Her novel Tafsil Thanawi (Minor Detail) was published by Al-Adab in 2017. Its English translation, published by Fitzcarraldo Editions (UK) and New Directions (US), was subsequently nominated for the National Book Award 2020 and the International Booker Prize 2021. Alongside her fiction writing, Shibli is engaged in academic research, teaching and lecturing.
