While the first seven issues of Side Magazine gave shape to the seven character exhibitions staged at Bergen Assembly, this special edition focuses on the artists and the artworks that give those characters life in Bergen from 8.9. to 6.11.2022.
This 8th special edition of Side Magazine doubles as the exhibition catalogue where you are invited to experience this fourth edition of the Bergen Assembly, convened by Saâdane Afif, as a journey that takes place not only in the city of Bergen, but which also meanders across the pages of this special 8th issue of Side Magazine. We are excited to share this view into what is unfolding through-out Bergen — an assembly consisting of exhibitions, mediation programmes, performances, concerts, and other gatherings, under the title Yasmine and the Seven Faces of the Heptahedron.
It includes a walk trough of all the exhibitions with documentation of the works by Daniel Buren, Sol Calero, Claude Debussy, Denicolai & Provoost, Neue Gestaltung, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster, GRAU, George Grosz, Gruppo Petrolio, Katia Kameli, Jessika Khazrik, Lars Korff Lofthus, Bernhard Martin, Augustin Maurs, Protektorama, Schwarmwesen, and Transformella (fed and cared for by JP Raether), Shirin Sabahi, Miriam Stoney, Alvaro Urbano, and a selection of vernacular coal sculptures by miners.
Side Magazine special edition features an editorial by Yasmine d’O, Curator of Bergen Assembly 2022 and Executive Editor of Side Magazine, a foreword by the Director of Bergen Assembly, Ingrid Haug Erstad, and contributions by Louisa Elderton and Pablo Larios in the form of project texts and artist biographies.
