Welcome to a presentation with Alvar Elias Ekhougen and Katarina Kierulf on the topic of unburnt clay as a building material.

Alvar and Katarina won the DOGA newcomer mark and the Statsbygg award for the diploma project Raw Earth. Afterwards, they held a workshop at Bergen School of Architecture and are now active on the board of the Norwegian Soil and Straw Construction Association. This is also an introduction to a new workshop to be held in May where we will build a wall in clay at Bergen Fellesverksted, Laksevåg.

In the Raw Earth project, the possibility of impure clay and soil as a building material is shown in the Norwegian context. The diploma project proposes a new Jordhus Center for research, dissemination and production of unburnt clay products. The concept aims at how unburnt clay can be part of sustainable architecture in the future!
