Facebook event

March is International Women’s Month — and we are reading a book born from uprising, grief, courage, and unyielding sisterhood.

March Book Pick: Woman, Life, Freedom by Marjane Satrapi
Genre: Political essays, testimonies, art
From: Iran / Global diaspora

About the book:
This powerful collection brings together the voices of Iranian women following the 2022 uprising sparked by the death of Mahsa Jina Amini. Through essays, testimonies, visual art, and calls to action, it captures the raw emotion and fierce defiance of a feminist revolution that refuses to be forgotten.
The title itself — Woman, Life, Freedom — is a chant that has echoed across the world, uniting women in shared struggle and resistance.

Why we chose it:
In March, we honor women’s resistance globally — and this book brings us directly into one of the most urgent feminist struggles of our time.
Iranian women have risked their lives for autonomy and justice, and this book lets them speak. It reminds us that international solidarity isn’t symbolic — it’s necessary.

Haven’t read the book? Come anyway!
FMV Book Club is about thoughtful conversations sparked by the book’s themes — not perfection. Whether you’ve read it all, just started, or want to listen and learn, you are warmly welcome. Bring a friend!
