What: Come to Bergen Assembly this Tuesday night for a delicious soup dinner! Everything is donation-based and vegan (In case of additional allergies, message us!)
Who: All who want to be rooted in a community working towards climate justice are welcome. Recharge, get to know one another, and get excited about organizing - all with a good bowl of soup!
How: Soup! is a mutual aid project, meaning it runs on voluntary, collaborative efforts. Right now, we're in need of people who want to help prep food, even if that's only once every-other-month. Message us if that could be you!
Being a mutual aid project also means all profits are for sustaining Soup! and meeting the community's needs.
Optional: Join Scientist Rebellion's or Folk Mot Fossilmakta's open weekly meeting taking place before soup (kl.17-18.30), or stay for tea/cake and various community activities after soup (from kl.19.30)! This time we are screening "Sivil Ulydighet" (Civil Disobedience) by Thomas A. Østbye. The documentary is Norwegian with English subtitles!
About the movie: Civil Disobedience takes you behind the scenes of today's climate activism: the actions, the emotional and strategic reconsiderations, the conscience driving the activists and the final trial in the court. It is an intense and empathic depiction, still strictly observational, where even the filmmaker gets arrested with the camera rolling. The film also offers a larger perspective: What drives ordinary people into using civil disobedience and taking on the state and corporate powers to fight the climate emergency?
