Spire Bergen invites you to a lecture on neoliberalism with author, sociologist, and journalist Linn Stalsberg. The lecture is based on Linn Stalsberg's book It Is Enough Now. How Neoliberalism Destroys People and Nature. The book was first published in 2019. Since then it has sold out multiple print runs, and now the success is back in paperback — still just as relevant.
For 40 years we have lived and breathed in neoliberalism. Psychologists speak of a "neoliberal psyche," as a consequence of us constantly being tested, counted, and measured. When all problems are to be solved by each individual alone, in a so-called free market, collective solutions to shared problems become difficult. We appear powerless in the face of our era's greatest challenges: the climate crisis, global inequality, and the loneliness many people feel. It is enough now. We must find the way out together.
Stalsberg is a sociologist and author of several books, including It Is Enough Now. How Neoliberalism Destroys People and Nature (2019) and After the Pandemic (2021). She is a regular columnist in Dagsavisen and Agenda Magasin, and is a widely sought-after lecturer and active public debater.
This event is free and open to all.
