Open Meeting & Conversation: Artists, Cultural Workers and Unions in Solidarity with Palestine

We recognise that there are a large proportion of artists and cultural workers who feel passionately about Palestinian rights and Norway’s compliance with international law in light of the current and ongoing attacks on Palestinians.

In this spirit we would like to invite you to an open meeting for artists in Bergen to discuss how we can use our collective voice to work for solidarity with Palestine, and put pressure on the Norwegian government through our memberships in artist unions like NBK and BKFH.

We would like to give a perspective as NBK members who also are working with Palestinakomiteen’s BDS group in Bergen, and what we think artist union members can do with our collective voices based on what other unions in Norway and elsewhere have achieved. We will also use this opportunity to share some of what we learned from Omar Barghouti, co-founder of the BDS movement, on his recent visit to Bergen.

We will have an introduction from Mona Khateeb, member of the board of Palestinakomiteen Bergen and initiator to the local BDS group. Mona has been working with BDS for many years.

After the introduction we wish to invite to a discussion around what we can do as artists and union members and, if there’s a consensus, collectively write a list with suggestions of actions for NBK and BKFH.

The meeting will be held in English.
