PINKWASHING & RESISTANCE
it’s impossible to talk about pinkwashing without acknowledging palestine and palestinians path of true resistance against colonization. the term was first used by queer palestinian activists who saw and experienced tactics used by israel in their efforts to brand israel as a gay friendly paradise.

the term ‘pinkwashing’ is often used to talk about brands, but the rebranding of nations cannot be ignored. as israel continues to push information to create a legacy of their own, we are also witnessing rhetoric coming out of the US, where pushing the agenda of being ‘pro queer rights’ is happening through actions of war.

how can assassinations through the imperialistic machine in the name of ‘LGBT+ rights’, be consolidated with a country that has one the highest murder rates of transgender people? how can countries perpetuating genocide tout themselves as fighting for our communities?

repealing the infamous ‘don’t ask don’t tell’ does not go hand in hand with drones, with stealing resources, with killing for profit.

✨What is Reclaim Pride Bergen?

We want to create a queer anti-capitalist, anti-racist, sexworker friendly, trans-inclusive solidarity space. No human is illegal, sex-work is real work, no pride in parades that includes cops and the military, no terfs, and no sponsorship for good optics and pinkwashing of our queer struggles.

Resistance is about daring to question those in power and having the courage to demand change, and it can take many forms. We see resistance in art, in community building, in sharing a meal, attending demos.. And for some just existing is an act of resistance.

Resistance represents the act of asserting agency, 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒍𝒂𝒊𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒈 power and dismantling oppressive systems.

This year's Reclaim Pride Bergen is about resistance, in any shape and form. It's about standing with our comrades resisting imperialism. It is about reminding ourselves that pride was a riot.

Lets resist the homonational propaganda from big banks and commercialization of pride.

Free Palestine, Kongo, Haiti, Sudan, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Sri Lanka, Sudan and all the countries that suffer under imperialist powers and keep resisting and fighting for their liberation.

Land back for all indigenous people.
