People Against Fossil Power and Scientist Rebellion are organising the People's Climate Summit.
(English speakers welcome - group discussions will be held in English & Norwegian)

The People's Climate Summit will be divided into three parts:
Part 1) Short speeches about climate, the oil fund, civil resistance
Part 2) Lunch break
Part 3) Citizens' Assembly (Citizens' Council)

Part 1 - Short presentations and group discussion
a) The climate situation in 2024
b) The Oil Fund and how it has the potential to be a major player in moving the world away from fossil fuels
c) How civil resistance has been successfully used to create change

Part 2: Free vegan lunch!

Part 3: Citizen's Council - People's Climate Summit - will focus on the Oil Fund.

You will have the chance to meet other people and discuss in small groups what you think the 70 billion invested in fossil fuels today should be used for instead.

Background for the event:

The oil lobby has hijacked the UN climate summit, emissions continue to rise, and the world's climate scientists are sounding the alarm.

For 29 years, world leaders have tried unsuccessfully to solve the climate crisis.
The time we have to achieve change is running out. What do people in Bergen do in such a situation? They come together and find out what they can do themselves.

Norway, through the Oil Fund (which is “for you and future generations”), is Europe's largest investor in the fossil fuel industry.

You, as each of the 5.5 million people living in Norway, have NOK 128,000 invested in fossil fuel companies worldwide. Is this a safe investment for your pension?

The Pension Fund is one of the world's largest funds and in a unique position to influence the world in the right direction. What do you think Norway should use the oil fund for in the future?
