“This book was published on the occasion of Bergen Assembly 2019: Actually, the Dead Are Not Dead.

Bergen Assembly 2019, titler Actually, The Dear Are Not Dead, is a project about life — about understanding of life beyond the binary oppositions of life and death, human and non-human, subject and object, healthy and sick, able and disabled. The project proposes communicating with the spectres of hte past and the future and taking resonsibility for those who are no longer, or not yet, here. This resonsibility defies the subjugation of life to the politics of death, ranging from the destructuons of the material and idealistic basis of life for countless people, or the deadly rejection of refugees, to the destruction of the planet. Actually, the Dead Are Not Dead revolves around the reclamation of life, fathoming the potential of artistic practices to imagine life differently.

Encompassing and exhibition and a series of events taking place at various venues in Bergen, Norway, Actually, the Dead Are Not Dead is conceived by a group of 12 curators, artists, theorists and activists: conveners Hans D. Christ and Iris Dressler in collaboration with Murat Deha Boduroğlu, María García, Hiwa K., Katia Krupennikova, Viktor Neumann, Paul B. Preciado, Pedro G. ROmero, Simon Sheikh and Emma Wolukau-Wanambwa.

Texts by:
Iris Dressler, María García and Pedro G. Romero, Nora Heidorn and Simon Sheikh, Katia Kruppennikova with the artists, Simon Sheikh, Paul B. Preciado, David Riff, Viktor Neumann
